Are you a grain grower looking forward to a hard-earned break by the coast in January?

If so, you’re invited to enjoy the relaxed vibe at one of three GRDC ‘Summer Sesh’ local forums being held in:

• Broadwater (near Busselton),
• Albany,
• Esperance.

Hosted by GRDC’s western region Grower Network initiative, these events are an opportunity to catch up with other growers and industry people, enjoy complimentary food and refreshments and raise ideas about opportunities and constraints relevant to the grains industry.

GRDC western region Grower Network coordinator Julianne Hill said the popular Summer Sesh series provided an opportunity for those involved in the grains industry to discuss, in a relaxed setting, ideas about issues affecting grower profitability.

“These ideas can assist GRDC in developing targeted research, development and extension activities,” Ms Hill said.

“This will be the third year GRDC has hosted these Summer Sesh events, and we welcome you to come along and share some after-harvest cheer with us, and chat informally with GRDC representatives and your fellow growers.

“You can also enjoy listening to engaging speakers, including well known Bureau of Meteorology media and communications manager Neil Bennett, who will speak at the Broadwater event, providing some humorous insights into the weather and how to interpret forecasts.

“At Albany and Esperance, attendees will hear from WFI (formerly Wesfarmers Insurance) local area manager Darrell Panizza, a triple premiership player with Claremont in the Western Australian Football League and a member of the WA Football Hall of Fame.

“These events are free, but to make sure we have enough refreshments for you all, don’t forget to RSVP by contacting me via phone, email or visiting the grower network website.

The Summer Sesh events will be held from 4 to 7pm, with free refreshments and snacks, at the following locations:

• Busselton – Abbey Beach Resort, 595 Bussell Hwy, Broadwater, Tuesday, January 19
• Albany – Centennial Stadium, 156 Lockyer Avenue, Albany, Thursday, January 21
• Esperance – Esperance Bay Yacht club, The Esplanade, Esperance, Friday, January 22.
