GRDC invites growers and advisers to attend one of four free on-farm Winter Planter Setup Workshops being held across north-west NSW and southern Queensland in April.

The workshops, held in partnership with AMPS Research, will assist growers and advisers in preparing for the upcoming winter planting season and provide participants with equipment calibration, crop establishment, agribusiness and planting advice.

The program will include presenters from independent specialists, AMPS Research, AgriPath, NSW Farmers, WeedSmart and Pulse Australia Agronomy and industry representatives from planter bar and air cart businesses.

Head of AMPS Research, Matt Gardner, says the workshops will assist growers and agronomists to optimise their planting operations.

“Everyone is invited and encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity for a practical, hands-on workshop that will help you improve the efficiency of your planting operation,” Mr Gardner says.

GRDC grower relations manager – north, Bob Ford, says the workshops will include a range of local winter planter bars and air carts.

“Following on from the success of our harvester set-up workshops, we’re very excited to give growers and agronomists the opportunity to attend a similar workshop focused on winter planting,” Mr Ford says.

“Participants will hear from independent and industry experts on effective planter bar and air cart setup and have the opportunity to ask questions relating to individual setup situations.

“The workshop will also look at benchmarking and financial decision making for winter planters and air carts, as well as on-farm safety considerations for planting time. We encourage everyone to come along.”
