A series of workshops scheduled across the northern grain region in September will bring together harvester specialists, industry experts and researchers to give growers the advice they need ahead of this season’s harvest.
Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Harvester Set-up Workshops are planned across four dates and locations, hosted by FarmLink Research in collaboration with local growers and grower groups:
- 2 September, Brookstead, Queensland
- 3 September, St George, Queensland
- 5 September, Parkes, NSW
- 6 September, Narromine, NSW.
GRDC grower relations manager – north Sally Dickinson encouraged growers to come along to get practical, independent information on this important topic.
“Industry experts and local growers will be on hand to discuss the integration of harvest weed seed control (HWSC) options, harvester fire prevention, accurate measurement/management of harvest losses and harvest storage,” she said.
“In recent years, GRDC’s harvester setup workshops have seen impressive attendance because growers know that optimizing harvest machinery setup is crucial for maximising profitability.”
The program includes:
- Understanding the impact of harvest loss, how to measure it, how to change your harvester to reduce losses, grain storage
- How to set-up for effective harvest weed seed control (HWSC) using mills systems, chaff decks and chaff lining
- Reducing the risk of harvester fires
- Improving harvester capacity and efficiency
- Managing harvest operations, productivity, and economics.
